BYOB usually means “Bring Your Own Beverage.” In an event listing or invitation, it indicates that guests may be expected or permitted to bring their own drinks rather than relying on a host to provide them.

The shorthand does not mean alcohol is required, available, or allowed everywhere. Hosts, venue policies, local law, and each person’s own choices still set the practical boundaries.
