Bystander Intervention
Lifestyle Glossary · consent-safety
Bystander intervention is the practice of stepping in when you witness a potential consent violation, uncomfortable situation, or unsafe behaviour at a lifestyle event or club. Effective bystander intervention does not require confrontation — it can be as simple as creating a distraction, checking in with the person who appears uncomfortable, or alerting event staff. Many lifestyle clubs actively train their staff and members in bystander intervention techniques. Being a responsible community member means being willing to act when something does not look right.
