Conflict Repair

Lifestyle Glossary · relationship-structures

Conflict repair is the set of intentional actions partners use to address hurt, reset communication, and restore safety after a disagreement. It includes acknowledging harm, taking responsibility, clarifying needs, and agreeing on concrete steps to prevent recurrence. Repair practices can be verbal (apologies, clarifying statements), behavioral (time-bound demonstrations of change), or structural (new agreements or routines). In relational communities, repair is valued as an ongoing skill that keeps trust resilient, reduces escalation, and supports long-term intimacy without erasing accountability or sidestepping difficult feelings.
