Consensual Non-Consent

Consensual Non-Consent, often shortened to CNC, is an adult kink framework in which people deliberately roleplay a power dynamic that may appear non-consensual while remaining grounded in explicit, prior consent. It is not permission to ignore a person's wishes, and it is never a justification for real coercion or harm.

Before any scene, participants discuss the fantasy, specific limits, language, intensity, signals, and what will happen if anyone needs to pause or stop. A safe word or equivalent non-verbal signal must be understood and respected immediately. Because the emotional and physical stakes can be high, many people approach CNC through the risk-aware planning principles associated with Risk-Aware Consensual Kink (RACK) and with clearly defined hard limits.
