Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

Lifestyle Glossary · Wellbeing

Erectile Dysfunction, often called ED, describes ongoing difficulty getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sexual activity. It is common and can be connected to many factors, including stress, fatigue, medication, alcohol or other substances, relationship pressure, circulation, hormones, or other health conditions. It is not a measure of desire, attraction, masculinity, or a partner's appeal.

An occasional change in arousal is normal. When a concern is persistent, distressing, or sudden, a qualified healthcare professional can help identify possible causes and discuss options. Partners can reduce pressure by keeping communication open, avoiding blame, and remembering that intimacy can take many forms. Consent still matters at every stage, including when plans change.
