Friend With Benefits

Friend with benefits, often shortened to FWB, describes a friendship that also includes a mutually agreed intimate or sexual connection. The phrase does not prescribe a single structure: some friends see each other occasionally, while others have a more regular arrangement.

Because friendship can carry its own expectations and history, it helps to talk about boundaries early. Topics might include privacy, safer-sex choices, what happens if one person starts dating someone else, and whether the friendship should change if the intimate part ends.

The arrangement works best when both people can be direct without worrying that a conversation will automatically end the friendship. Regular communication leaves room for the connection to evolve respectfully.
