Homosexual

Homosexual is a formal term for attraction to people of the same gender. It appears in clinical, legal, and historical writing, although many people prefer the more specific everyday labels gay or lesbian when describing themselves.

The most respectful language is the language a person uses for their own identity. A glossary definition can explain the term without imposing it as the preferred way to name someone.
