LTR

Lifestyle Glossary · relationship-structures

LTR is shorthand for “long-term relationship.” It usually refers to a relationship that has an established history and an ongoing place in the people’s lives, but it does not by itself describe whether that relationship is monogamous, open, married, cohabiting, or otherwise structured.

Long-term partners may revisit agreements as circumstances, desires, health, family responsibilities, or confidence change. A relationship lasting many years is not automatically a sign that every expectation has stayed the same.

Checking in through communication and revisiting boundaries can help an LTR remain responsive rather than relying on old assumptions.
