Relationship Agreement

Lifestyle Glossary · relationship-structures

A relationship agreement is a set of explicitly discussed and agreed-upon rules, boundaries, and expectations between partners in an open or non-monogamous relationship. Relationship agreements can cover anything from which activities are permitted with outside partners, to how much detail partners share with each other, to how new connections are introduced. Agreements are not contracts — they are living documents that should be revisited and updated as the relationship evolves. The process of creating an agreement is often as valuable as the agreement itself, as it requires honest communication about needs and boundaries.
