Risk Aware Sex

Risk aware sex is informal language for approaching sexual-health decisions by discussing relevant risks, personal boundaries, and the information each adult considers important before intimacy. It is not a clinical standard, a guarantee of safety, or a replacement for individualized health advice. It is also distinct from Risk-Aware Consensual Kink (RACK), which is a BDSM-specific consent framework.

The phrase is most useful when it supports honest communication rather than creating pressure to disclose more than someone wants or to accept another person’s choices.
