Values Alignment

Lifestyle Glossary · relationship-structures

Values alignment describes the degree to which people share core priorities, ethical commitments, life goals, and expectations that shape decisions and long-term plans. It goes beyond surface preferences to include attitudes about caregiving, honesty, family, financial priorities, and community involvement. When values align, partners or group members can make major choices with fewer clashes; when they diverge, practical agreements and clear negotiation are essential. Values alignment is a guiding tool for planning, setting boundaries, and deciding when differences are manageable or require structural change.
