Breath Play

Breath play is an umbrella term for activities that intentionally affect a person's breathing or the sensation of breathing during an adult BDSM scene. It carries a serious risk of injury, loss of consciousness, or death, sometimes without clear warning. It is not made safe by experience, trust, or a safe word.

This is a high-risk category, not a how-to. Consent does not remove physical risk, and a safe word may not be usable if someone cannot speak or respond. If anyone has difficulty breathing, loses consciousness, or appears in distress, stop and seek emergency help immediately. Risk-Aware Consensual Kink (RACK) emphasizes acknowledging risk rather than minimizing it.
